The world’s first commercial ship-to-ship green ammonia bunkering operation was completed at Zhoushan anchorage in China on October 13, 2026. The FKAB-designed L21 ammonia bunkering vessel Shenghang Yongle supplied 1,000 tonnes of green ammonia to Mineral Europa, an ammonia-powered bulk carrier owned by Belgium’s CMB.Tech.
The fuel came from CEEC’s HyFlow-1 Songyuan hydrogen energy project. The operation connected green ammonia production with delivery to a receiving vessel, completing the supply chain through to marine fuel bunkering.

The commercial transfer provides a concrete example of how fuel production, bunkering capacity and vessel demand can connect in a single supply operation. For producers, bunker suppliers and shipowners, its immediate relevance lies in the coordination of those stages: producing green ammonia is one part of the process; making it available for delivery to an operating ship is another.
The distinction between completing a commercial operation and establishing a recurring service remains important. This delivery demonstrates that the supply chain functioned for the transaction described. It does not, by itself, establish how frequently comparable deliveries can take place, what their costs will be or how readily the arrangement can be extended to other vessels and locations.
Subsequent deliveries and announcements about recurring supply arrangements will therefore be useful indicators of progress. For shipowners assessing ammonia fuel procurement, the next practical questions concern supply continuity and access to bunkering when required. For fuel producers and bunker suppliers, repeat business would provide stronger evidence that this completed supply chain can support sustained commercial demand.
